About Us
The Alaska Natural Foods ranch raises beef, pigs, sheep, goats, and dairy cows. Both Tangy and her husband Matt grew up on farm families in Idaho, so ranching is in their blood. In 2016, they moved to Alaska with the cattle, goats, rabbits, horses, and three young boys. Their dream was to provide their community with fresh, natural, high quality meat.
Practices
They practice regenerative agriculture techniques that focus on revitalizing the soil. This means healthier soil that is capable of producing higher yields, which lends itself towards a more prosperous farm. Their approach focuses on permaculture and organic farming practices. This includes using common principles such as conservation tillage, cover crops, crop rotation, composting, mobile animal shelters and pasture cropping.

In the summer, they feed with livestock on cut grass and rotational grazing between bhrome grass fields and cover crop fields. In the winter, they use a fodder system to feed fresh nutrient rich sprouts to their livestock, keeping them healthier through the long, cold days. Running a fodder system is a labor of love that shows in the incredible taste and finish of their meat. In addition to sprouted barley and hay, they also feed the animals chopped barley grain from a local supplier in Delta Junction.
